40 PSI GATGLASS® is the only viable alternative to traditional 40psi glass and has undergone hydrostatic pressure testing by a NATA certified and ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory having easily achieved a rating of 40psi for 2 hours, with testing showing the robustness of the product by still performing well at 45psi pressure for a further 2 hours. The panel size tested covers the largest single-glazing panel requirement in this market; the test report is available on request.
40 PSI GATGLASS® is ideal for any application that requires extreme impact and surge-pile burial-resistant protection glazing with very high optical value and no visual distortion, surpassing most glass laminates, with a proprietary coating technology that gives the surface an abrasion resistance equivalent to glass.
40 PSI GATGLASS® is a single-ply, monolithic sheet, avoiding any issues that are inherent in laminated products to do with delamination or general degradation due to vibration, impact, and the constant forces associated with heavy equipment in harsh environments.

Investigations and tests carried out by the US Department of Labor’s Mine Safety & Health Administration indicated that window glass with a strength of at least 20 psi was required to resist the pressure imposed on a dozer buried up to 10 m deep in coal.
The US MSHA doubled this strength requirement allowing for a safety buffer, recommending that 40 psi glass be fitted to dozers engaged in coal stockpile work.
In Australia, NSW Trade & Investment’s Mine Safety Operations Branch issued MDG 28: Safety requirements for coal stockpiles and reclaim tunnels, which recommends stockpile dozer cabs be designed to “withstand engulfment forces of at least 40 psi (280 kPa)”
